Welcome to People's Development Trust
The People's Development Trust has been established in response to the ongoing regeneration activity that is being undertaken within the East End of Glasgow. The formation of the People's Development Trust has grown out of the commitment and interest by the local people in the Dalmarnock community to create a vehicle that will ensure that the maximum benefit for the area is achieved through the planned regeneration activity.
Designed as a vehicle for ensuring that sustainable economic and social benefit is achieved from the significant programmes of regeneration being undertaken in the area, we focus on two key areas of activity including:
  1. Acting as vehicle for engaging the local community in designated areas and supporting the process of community involvement in the long term regeneration of the area – experience from other major regeneration initiatives indicates that effective and sustainable regeneration can only be achieved if there is involvement and a sense of ownership by local people in the regeneration process;
  2. Deliver a range of economic, social and environmental services within local communities, including the development of the local community infrastructure. The People's Development Trust will seek to maximise the opportunities that flow from the planned regeneration activity, but will also provide a mechanism for delivering local services and activities on a sustainable basis – providing jobs for local people; providing community based services in response to local needs; and generating income for ongoing investment.
The initial focus of activity will be towards the Dalmarnock area. However, the opportunity exists for the geographical area to be extended in the future to cover adjoining communities.
The Community Development Trust is being established with the support of a range of partner agencies including Glasgow City Council, GERA, and Clyde Gateway.
